We need your HELP!
St. Anthony’s Chapel is one of the most unique and sacred buildings in North America. Dedicated in 1883, the Chapel is named in honor of St. Anthony of Padua, often referred to as ‘The Wonder Worker’. Currently, there are more than 5,000 relics of the Saints in the Chapel. They’re displayed in beautiful reliquaries, arranged in altars and side cases constructed of hand-carved, solid walnut.
Among the collection are three central reminders of the most profound aspects of our faith: Christ’s Suffering and Death on the Cross; and His glorious resurrection from the dead. Located in a reliquary on the left side of the Chapel are a splinter from the True Cross, a thorn from the Crown of Thorns, and a piece from the stone of the Holy Sepulcher. Other relics include a nail that held Christ to the Cross, pieces of bones from the Apostles, and the remains of several Saints, including St. Faustina. All of the relics have been documented and verified by the Holy See. Once they are placed in a reliquary, they are sealed and cannot be moved. This is done to prevent theft and forgery.
To this day, St. Anthony’s Chapel remains a spiritual house of faith, reflection and prayer. It attracts more than 30,000 visitors each year from all over the world and from different faiths and denominations.
From time to time, preservation projects at the Chapel (which are not necessarily budgeted) occur and we need to seek outside financial help to accomplish the work. This is where you can help.
The projects listed below are currently what we are trying to fund. Any amount of a donation that you can offer towards a project that interests you, would be greatly helpful and appreciated. If you click on the project image you will be automatically directed to make a donation online. If you want to make a large donation, please reach out to us for this process. If you prefer to write a check, please make it out to St. Anthonys Chapel and mail to 1700 Harpster St. Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
Thank you for your help and generosity in sustaining our historical Shrine to St. Anthony. Your donation will help to fund the operating costs and maintenance of St. Anthony’s Chapel, so that it can continue to be a magnificent place of pilgrimage for thousands of people. It is our hope that we can provide spiritual nourishment for the people of God for centuries to come.
